Google Translate is a familiar, completely free translation service that works in the browser and as a phone app. It translates text, speech and photographed signs or menus between more than a hundred languages. In conversation mode, two people who speak different languages can chat using the phone. You can download language packs in advance to translate offline, which is handy when travelling. Its Finnish has improved, but for long texts where tone matters, DeepL or a chatbot often gives a more natural result.
Who it is for: Travellers and quick everyday translations.
Best for: Translation, On my phone
